Why I’m Stepping Up for Charleston
I’m running for an at‑large seat on Charleston City Council because this city raised me, and I care deeply about the people who live here. I’m not a politician — just a neighbor who wants to see Charleston move in a positive direction. We have a beautiful community full of good people, and with a little focused effort, we can keep our young folks here, support those facing homelessness or addiction, and strengthen our neighborhoods by removing unsafe buildings or restoring the ones worth saving. I’m stepping up because I love this city and want to help it become the best version of itself.

Strengthening Crisis Response in Charleston- I plan to rely more heavily on the CARE Team to handle behavioral‑health and substance‑use crises, ensuring people get support instead of cycling through the justice system. At the same time, I’ll expand crisis‑intervention and de‑escalation training for police so officers are better equipped to work alongside CARE and respond safely and effectively. Together, these steps create a more coordinated, compassionate system that serves both the community and those in crisis.

Saving Good Bones, Clearing Blight: Renewing our City with Purpose- Cities that successfully eliminate dilapidated structures without erasing their character rely on a mix of adaptive reuse, historic preservation policy, and community‑driven revitalization. These strategies not only save “good bones” but also boost local economies, strengthen identity, and improve quality of life.

Keeping Charleston's Future Here at Home-
Charleston must focus on keeping its graduates and young people here by making local opportunity visible, accessible, and connected to the vibrant, inclusive future we’re building together. When we invest in the next generation, we strengthen our workforce, our neighborhoods, and the long‑term vitality of our city.
